Whereas a lot of people today choose the do it yourself options, they are fraught with pitfalls. Many new homes today are built using a brand of windows that are a different size inside the home to what is mentioned on the plans.

A trap for young players

Have you bought ready made blinds to suit the measurement that the plans have printed only to find that they are too big? This is not always the case dependent on the brand of window the builder has used.

The thinking here of course is that you are going to save money on blinds which you may do for now, but of course now they need to be cut to size at a price which just about means you could have afforded custom made products.

Bad experiences in the past or first time around

I could presume that perhaps you have dealt with companies before and you have decided that you will have a go yourself because it will save you heaps and avoids the frustrations of dealing with a big company.

A lot of businesses regardless of size often source products interstate or overseas. This means spare parts or corrections due to mistakes take time to fix. There are often too many people in the chain from sales to the end result regardless of what type of business you are talking about and you and your problems are the last thing on their mind.

Frustrating

Just remember that a lot (not all) of ready made products are cheaper for a reason. They probably won't last and spare parts are generally not available. Then there is the limited choice of colours and styles available to you.

That being said if you decide you want to buy ready made products, there are numerous retail outlets that will assist but then it is up to you.

Those instructions

I don't know about you but you open a flat pack type box and dig around to find the instructions, or if you are a 'bloke' you just take off without reading them. The instructions sound like a recipe for disaster sometimes. So you have put it all together and what a surprise, there are bits left over. You also realize the quality of the product you just put together is not what you had hoped for.

Its a shame that learning by way of mistakes costs so much in time and frustration.
